The document library is the club's filing cabinet: the constitution, committee minutes, policies, risk assessments, the members' handbook, sailing instructions and everything else members are told exists but can never find.
There is no public address to leak.
Uploads live in a private store, and when an entitled member opens one, Sail mints a link that expires within the hour. Nothing sits on the open web to be shared, guessed or found in a search engine.
Publishing can tell the whole membership.
A document reaches members only once it's published, and publishing can notify every one of them. That turns the library from a place people forget to look into a channel the club can actually use for the annual report or an updated risk assessment.

Published documents sit on the club's own website alongside the member directory, behind the same login, rather than in a separate system with another password to forget.
A filing cabinet that people can actually use
- Organise what most clubs keep in a shared drive: categories members browse, such as governance, minutes, policies or racing, with optional sub-folders, reorderable, colour-coded and switched off when they're no longer used
- Upload in bulk: drag a folder of files onto the page and they upload together with progress shown, each with a title and description, so members choose from meaningful names rather than a list of filenames
- Link to documents held elsewhere: an entry can point at an external address instead of an uploaded file, for clubs that keep some material on a shared drive or an association's website
- Read Office files in the browser: Word, Excel and PowerPoint open in a viewer, so nobody needs an app installed to read the minutes
- Prepare before you publish: a draft policy can be uploaded and readied without appearing in the members' area until it's active and published
